[ID: A tweet thread by @ besf0rt that reads:

all the billions the rich are accumulating every day are hours you could’ve spent not working, - hours, days, months, and years stolen from your life

important to keep in mind that wealth & resources also equal time - most people, when they win the lottery, stop working for a while or dramatically reduce the time they spend working. most ppl work just to survive, worker exploitation also means extraction of time

it’s an abomination that the 8-hour day has been the standard for nearly a century now while productivity has been radically increasing. to the contrary, many ppl work even more than 8 hrs a day. ppl would need to work A LOT less today, but you’re not supposed to know about that

we’ve been accustomed to equate progress with incremental improvements of smartphones or new netflix shows, but we don’t talk enough about how valuable our own time is - time to spend with friends, to read, be creative, or just do nothing. why don’t we equate progress with that?

when have we just accepted that we spend most of our lives in a rigid school system and then at work until we get old and die? our fight against capitalism is the fight for our time, the most precious thing in life -because it IS life. we have to take back what is rightfully ours
